This calculator provides information on upgrade award requirements for flights operated by Ethiopian Airlines and should be used as a guide only. The actual number of miles required for the award itinerary selected, together with the additional taxes, if any, will be quoted at the time of upgrade.
- ShebaMiles upgrade award is not offered on Ethiopian domestic flights
- ShebaMiles upgrade awards are only valid for the flight it is issued and will be valid for 12 months from the date of issuance.
- ShebaMiles Upgrade award cannot be issued on codeshare flights operated by other airlines.
- ShebaMiles Upgrade Award Miles are applicable for one-way and one flight number.
- Upgrade Awards shall not be offered on award tickets.
- When a flight is upgraded to business class using ShebaMiles upgrade award, accrual of miles will be based on the booking class of the ticket purchased.
- Once a ShebaMiles upgrade award is issued, a business class service is offered for the upgraded flight segment. However, when connecting from flights operated by other airlines to Ethiopian Airlines flights, and vice versa the luggage allowance of the upgraded class on the Ethiopian Airlines segment cannot be offered for luggage that has already been checked in by the other airline at the point of departure for collection at the final destination.
- Date changes on upgrade award is allowed for a charge of USD 5.00 per flight. in addition to the applicable fare re-booking fees of the original economy class.
However: - ShebaMiles Silver members are entitled to one free re-booking before trip commencement. This applies if and only if the tier status of the member is Silver at the time of re-booking request.
- ShebaMiles Gold members are entitled to two free re-bookings before trip commencement. This applies if and only if the tier status of the member is Gold at the time of re-booking request.
- ShebaMiles Platinum members are entitled to unlimited free re-bookings before and after commencement of the trip. This applies if and only if the tier status of the member is Platinum at the time of date change request.
- ShebaMiles upgrade award can be offered for free for one infant (under 2 years of age) travelling with an adult and not occupying a seat in the upgraded cabin.
- More than one infant or infant occupying seat is required to be ticketed in the upgrade eligible booking class that is purchased and in addition redeem full award miles per the number of seats occupied.
- Taxes and other dues should be paid by the passenger; and the applicable tax and fee amount shall be confirmed with the respective Ethiopian Airlines office at time of processing the upgrade.
